Remarkable speed from the xAI team to stand-up this mega cluster of NVDIA GPUs, now the largest in the world. The recently released Grok-2 (not to be confused with Groq) is already testing in-line with the leading models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other LLMs, and this new training cluster should allow them to leapfrog the competition as far as training the next model. It’s all moving very quickly and should be an interesting few months ahead. As a point of reference, OpenAI is said to be raising another round ~$100bln valuation, up from around ~$29bln valuation in April 2023.
